It’s All About Those Roots!

Licorice root, burdock root, and dandelion root. These are a few of the key ingredients in our DeTox blend – but what do they have in common? While they all have distinct flavors and benefits, there are a few fabulous reasons why we should be drinking them together:

  1. Digestion – Consuming these three teas can promote a healthy balance for your digestion. Not only can they be used as a mild laxative, they also may stimulate appetite, relieve heartburn, and balance stomach acid to aid in digestion.
  2. Cleansing – These three teas have been shown to be able to clear and remove toxins from your liver, and your blood, by purifying and sending those nasty toxins out through urine.
  3. Healing – They are also good for boosting your immune system. This is especially swell when those cold and flu seasons are going around. Root teas are rich in antioxidants and vitamins E, and C, which are essential for our health.

  • Ginger

For centuries, ginger has been used as a natural remedy for many ailments. While ginger has little scientific evidence to support aid in more serious illnesses, it has been shown to help with a very wide variety of problems, such as for colds, nausea, arthritis, and even cancer. Ginger has extremely high levels of antioxidants, only just behind berries and pomegranates. Feeling nauseous? Ginger has been shown to be very useful for relaxing irritated stomach muscles, and helping to neutralize stomach acids. Along with those wonderful benefits, ginger also contains anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.
Don’t enjoy the taste of ginger on it’s own? Not to worry! Our DeTox tea is so full of other yummy ingredients that ginger only helps accentuate the wonderful taste this tea has to offer.

  • Sage

Another key ingredient to our DeTox blend, is sage. When we think of eating healthy and natural, leafy greens probably come to mind, but you may not immediately think of a little herb that often gets left behind. Full of anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants, this herb can help detoxify your blood and may also help prevent Alzheimer’s disease. Another benefit of sage is that is has been known to lower blood sugar levels in diabetics.

  • Turmeric

Turmeric! The yellowist of yellow in the rainbow of spices, this spice is another good choice for anti-inflammatory benefits and has been used for centuries as an herbal medicine. It’s not only helpful with arthritis pain, it can also be used as a helpful aid for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) as well as Cystic Fibrosis. As another spice that is also full of antioxidants, this tea also contains high amounts of manganese, as well as fiber, vitamin B6, and iron.

  • Last but not least…

Black pepper, cardamom, cloves, parsley, fennel, star anise; all herbs and spices that are all beneficial to a healthy balanced diet, full of antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, blended together to make a beautifully tasty DeTox tea!

To make the perfect cup of our DeTox tea, use 1 level tsp in a loose tea infuser (approx. 8oz/1cup) and steep in boiling water for 4-5 minutes for full effect (or steep to taste!). Drink 2 cups a day for balanced benefits.
